Installation Requirements & Service Policy

What TVPerch provides, what you provide, and how installations work on-site.

Version 1.1-draftLast updated: October 20, 2026Effective: upon administrator approval
This document is a plain-English draft prepared for review by an attorney experienced in nationwide service marketplaces. It is presented so customers and contractors can read how TVPerch operates. It is not attorney-approved legal advice, and final versions take effect only when approved and published by TVPerch.

1. TVPerch Provides Installation Labor

TVPerch coordinates professional installation labor performed by independent contractors. Unless a particular booking explicitly states otherwise, TVPerch does not sell televisions or mounting hardware. You are responsible for supplying an appropriate television and compatible mounting hardware before your appointment.

If you do not yet have a mount, see our TV Mount Buying Guide for help choosing compatible hardware. If your equipment turns out to be incompatible or missing, the installer will document it and the booking will be handled under the Cancellation & Refund Policy.

2. Your Equipment

Mount compatibility

Your mount must be appropriate for your television and wall. Most mounts attach to a TV through standardized VESA bolt patterns; your mount's VESA pattern, weight rating, and size range must match your TV. Fixed, tilting, and full-motion mounts differ in how they attach and what wall support they need.

TV size and weight

Televisions vary widely in size and weight, and very large or very heavy TVs may require a two-person crew or specialized equipment. Your quote accounts for the TV sizes you report, so please report them accurately; oversized televisions may require a revised quote.

Required parts and condition

Your mount should include the hardware it was sold with. Please make sure your TV, mount, and any add-on items (for example, a soundbar or cable covers you want installed) are present and in working condition before the appointment. Installers cannot repair damaged equipment, and damaged TVs or mounts may be declined for safety reasons.

3. Mounting Conditions and Wall Types

Whether an installation can be safely performed depends on the actual wall and conditions found on-site, which may differ from what was described at booking. Common surfaces and their considerations:

  • Wood studs behind drywall: the most common and generally suitable surface.
  • Metal studs: possible, but requires different anchors and may affect what can be supported.
  • Brick, concrete, and other masonry: possible, but requires special equipment and may involve additional labor, cost, or review.
  • Tile, plaster, or unusual wall assemblies: reviewed case by case.
  • Above-fireplace and other elevated locations: possible, but may involve additional labor, cost, or review depending on the height and materials.
  • Restricted locations: mounting over or near concealed utilities, heat sources, or structurally unsuitable areas may be declined.

TVPerch does not guarantee that every wall type or location can be supported. Installers will not perform work they cannot do safely, and they will not perform electrical, structural, or plumbing work, which is beyond the booked service. Concealed utilities and wiring inside walls are not always visible; installers use reasonable care to identify and avoid hazards they can detect, and customers should disclose any known hazards, wiring, or pipes in the work area before the appointment.

4. Property Access and Adult Presence

For every installation:

  • An authorized adult age 18 or older must be present throughout the installation and be authorized to provide access and make decisions about the work area.
  • You must have the property owner's or authorized occupant's permission to arrange the installation.
  • The work area must be safe and reasonably cleared: installer access to the wall, a safe path to carry the TV, and space to work.
  • Known hazards (wiring, pipes, unstable furniture, pets that need securing) should be disclosed before the appointment.

If an authorized adult is not present or access cannot be provided, the installer may be unable to begin work, and the booking is handled under the Cancellation & Refund Policy.

5. Changes in Scope Identified On-Site

Conditions on-site sometimes differ from what was described at booking (for example, metal studs instead of wood, unexpected masonry, or additional TVs at the same appointment). When that happens, the installer will explain what changed and what it means for the work. Any additional labor or charges must be disclosed and approved by you (or your on-site contact) before the work proceeds. Installers may not collect unauthorized payments directly from customers; additional amounts are arranged through TVPerch and paid through the platform's secure payment process.

Work that is outside the booked service (electrical outlets, wall repair, structural modifications, in-wall wiring beyond what was quoted, or unrelated handyman tasks) is not included and will not be performed without a separately agreed scope.

6. Installation Completion

When the installation is finished, the installer documents the completed work, including photographs submitted through TVPerch's completion process. These photographs are used to verify the installation and support payment review. Depending on your booking, you may be asked to acknowledge completion.

If you believe the work is incomplete or something looks wrong, report it promptly through our Damage Claims & Service Concerns process. Reporting promptly helps TVPerch review and resolve the issue while the details are fresh.

7. Workmanship and Property Damage

Contractors are responsible for performing the installations they accept in accordance with applicable professional standards and the service scope agreed for the booking. Problems that can arise from installation work include, among others:

  • a television falling because of improper mounting;
  • mounting hardware failure attributable to installation error;
  • improper anchoring or stud attachment;
  • damage to drywall or surrounding property;
  • accidental damage to a television during installation;
  • damage caused by drilling into concealed utilities;
  • incomplete or unsafe installation;
  • other alleged installation-related property damage.

Not every reported problem is a contractor's fault. Reports are reviewed based on the documentation, the circumstances, and applicable law; damage is not automatically assumed to be the result of contractor negligence. Contractors are expected to cooperate in correcting verified workmanship problems. Where damage may be covered by the contractor's insurance, the matter should be submitted to the appropriate insurer as the policy requires. Insurance coverage, exclusions, deductibles, and claim decisions are governed by the applicable insurance policy.

How to report a problem, and how TVPerch reviews it, is described in our Damage Claims & Service Concerns policy. Nothing in this section limits any warranty, right, or remedy provided to you by law.
